and the media covering Cheryl's
best lifting accomplishments

Over the years, it has been very rewarding to receive news coverage or publicity - either expected or very much by surprise - of my lifting, and to spread awareness of my sport. Since I do not earn an income for my achievements in powerlifting, I am very thankful for the credit that the media has generously given me.

My first television news coverage was on a local cable access channel, and my latest was on KARE 11, the Twin Cities' NBC affiliate. My first newspaper coverage was in a college newspaper, and I have since received a three-page, full-color spread in the Minneapolis Star Tribune West. I have unexpectedly found myself pulling a deadlift across a two-page, full-color spread in Pure Power Magazine, and I have been invited to write an IPF World Championships report for Powerlifting USA Magazine.

Following is a chronology of the television stations, newspapers and magazines that have been nice enough to provide coverage of powerlifting and my participation in this sport!

1996
