Other Smashing Stories

In three years since I first met him, Barry Darsow has been the most interesting wrestler to know, and one who I can share great stories about.

To list just a few of the things I will be writing more about soon...

- The first thing he did when we met was give a short performance of Smash's facial expressions

- He showed himself to be an optimist and motivator, encouraging me to break records in both the 97 lb. and 105 lb. weight classes in powerlifting (after I told him that I felt I had forfeited my chances of ever breaking any bench press records in the 97 lb. wt. class because of my post-pregnancy weight gain)

- He taught me what a two-man deadlift is and demonstrated how he broke a national record with Wayne Bloom doing just that

- He was the first person to train me on how to do decline bench presses

- He talked to me about the business of professional wrestling and had begun helping me audition for / get involved with WXO wrestling before it dissolved

- He rescued me when my minivan's transmission died along a highway in the middle of a blizzard - left the gym early, picked me up and drove me home

- Barry was the first person to view PetitePowerlifter.com after its debut on the internet on New Year's Day 2002, and I am glad to share that he REALLY likes my style of writing and what I have to say!!

- He also gets a steadily increasing number of my famous (or is that infamous?) banana walnut bread loaves every Christmas

- He attended my company's annual fundraising banquet and his company made a very unique donation for the evening

- He's even given me some career counseling and feedback!

I'll be adding more details to these and other "Smashing" stories at this page soon!

Barry attended the Robbinsdale Women's Center's
10th Anniversary Banquet in April 2002,
where I was the MC of the event.
